Historic Tour of Islamic Cairo

6 Hours

On this tour you will discover some of the most incredible places and monuments in Cairo, places that go off the traditional routes. Itinerary: After picking you up from the hotel at 9:00 a.m., we will head to the Midan Al Qalaa area, in the historic center of Cairo. Our first stop will be the Al-Rifai Mosque, also known as the Royal Mosque, a modern mosque from the 19th century. In the same area we will also enter the Mosque and Madrasa of Sultan Hassan, built in 1361. These monuments are considered the best constructions of architecture from the beginning of the Mamluk period, a time of splendor. Our next visit will be the Ibn Tulun Mosque, the largest and oldest in the city. It was built between the years 876 and 879 in the ancient city of Al-Qatta'i by order of Ahmad Ibn Tulun. After discovering the mosques we will stop to eat in a typical restaurant. The menu includes various types of salads, a main dish (meat, fish or chicken), rice, pasta and vegetables, and a selection of desserts and fruits. The tour continues visiting the Gair Anderson Museum and touring the famous Fatimid wall, the street in the world with the largest number of monuments from the time. At the end of the tour we will take you back to the hotel.
